This wine may be a little past it's prime. It smelled of maple and caramel and freshly cut grass. The fist taste was very much like soil... the kind you get in a bag to plant your flowers in. Then the next sip brought out flavors of German chocolate cake and over-ripe cherries. The finish was nice and long with low tannins and very high astringency. I've had better.I give this wine 3 out of 5 stars.
